FAQs

Q?

What is a Solid State Drive (SSD)?

A.

The computer stores the data on the hard drive, currently there are two different types. Rotating media (old platter hard drives) and newer Solid State Drives that store the data in computer chips. The Solid State Drives are much faster in the range of 5 times faster, use less power, and are much lighter than traditional rotating media drives.  This is always a great upgrade for a computer.

Q?

My computer is new, do I need to backup my data?

A.

You should ALWAYS have a backup of your data. Hard drives fail daily, laptops get stolen, and fires can destroy all of your precious files. Hard drives are a lot like tires on a car, they will eventually fail and you should always have a spare. We recommend an online backup solution. Carbonite or iDrive are the two we prefer.

Q?

Should I turn off my computer at night?

A.

If you have a desktop computer we recommend leaving it on over night. If you have laptop however, we suggest you turn it off.

Q?

What is the best free virus protection?

A.

We currently recommend 360 Total Security for our free virus protection. It uses the Bitdefender core engine and works really well.
